Unlocking of the iPhone

While the Apple iPhones can be bought from the AT&T cell phone company with a SIM card locked securely, eventually numerous hackers all around the world who gotten hold of the iphone have discovered ways on how to unlock iphone.

I am really amazed on how a competent hacker am able to do it. The Apple iPhone is supposed to possess a secure and locked iphone. The Apple company only allows users to access web features and media player once the phone is activated with the authorized wireless carrier.

However, just past the middle of 2007, a hacker by the name of Jon Johansen announced his success in unlocking the iphone, accessing its features using several software and modifited iTune binary. He was “generous” enough to publish his software for use of the public.

In Germany, an attempt was made to sell unlocked iphones to the public, and without being tied to a contract with T-Mobile. It is because German companies are not permitted to have the SIM locked to its sole service. However, a German court eventually made the decision to give to T-Mobile cell phone the exclusive rights to market the phone – this means SIM is locked and access is exclusively provided by T-Mobile. But then, the company will have to provide the option to iPhone users to have their phones unlocked after the end of contract.

In the United States, there is the alarming development of some wireless carriers selling unlocked iPhones. More than ¼ of the phones in the US are discovered to be not registered with the authorized dealer – AT & T. One speculation is that the units came from outside the country and were already unlocked.

Nowadays, it is quite easy to find a quality high tech gadgets such as the iPhone. One can go to a brick and mortar retail store or better yet go online. You may try and buy cheap unlocked Apple iPhone online and have a quality gadget for a much lesser price.
